Yamaha AEX1500
Yamaha AEX1500 Yamaha AEX1500 Description: Contemporary Classic. Archtop guitars are boundless in time and tradition. There's just something about the classic look and that electric-acoustic sound that has appealed to all genres of musicians from country and rock to rockabilly and jazz. Yamaha crafts some of the finest archtops in the world - our artists have known this secret for years. The AEX1500 is a traditional archtop with a neck-mounted mini-humbucker and is complemented with a bridge-mounted piezo pickup to produce not only electric jazz sounds but also acoustic archtop sounds. Controls include a passive volume and tone for the neck pickup, an active 3-band EQ for the piezo, and a mix control for blending the two. The gorgeous AEX1500 looks, feels and sounds like a vintage jazz archtop. Its Sycamore top and Maple back and sides summon just the right combination of mellowness and edge. The floating bone-on-Ebony bridge and the floating Johnny Smith-style mini-humbucker (it's attached to the neck, not the body) yield the spacious and organic warmth that separates the true jazz instrument from the semi-acoustic-style tone.
